Women's Open Rides

Charlotteville are very keen to encourage more women to come and join the club, so from April 2022 we will be running a series of rides for women only on a Tuesday evening, led by our very own Elodie Hudson.

All these rides will depart from the Old Guildfordians clubhouse on Stoke Park (London Road) at 6pm on Tuesdays (map below). We will be out for 1-1.5 hours and will cover between 20 – 30km, avoiding main roads where possible, and exploring some of the beautiful lanes on our doorstep.

Absolutely all ages (over 18) and levels of experience are welcome and we will go at a pace that suits everyone in the group. You will need the following:

  • A road bike (a bike with plenty of gears and with drop handle bars)
  • A helmet (mandatory)
  • Front and rear lights
  • A tool kit containing spare inner tube, tyre levers, CO2 or pump and a multitool (don’t worry if you are not confident about changing a tyre – we can help you)
  • Emergency contact information (I will ask you to provide this before your first ride)

You don’t need fancy lycra or cleats (shoes to clip you in to pedals) or a bike computer (if you have one, you can down load gpx files of our routes). You also don’t need to be a member of Charlotteville, but if you are very welcome to join the club and try some of our Sunday club runs and other events.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions (elodiehudson@gmail.com) and I look forward to seeing you from Tuesday April 12th.

"I got my first road bike and joined the club in 2019 and have been cycling around with a big smile on my face ever since. I am keen to help more women discover the joys of road cycling by taking anyone who is interested out for a short spin in the Surrey Hills (not too far or fast!)."

Breeze Network (Woking)

Perhaps you've not ridden a bike for a while and you're looking for the easiest way to get back in the saddle? Or you fancy a fun way to get out with your friends?

Breeze is British Cycling's biggest ever programme to get more women into riding bikes for fun. Our aim is to help thousands more women feel confident and comfortable about going on a ride.

Breeze Rides in Woking are on the 3rd Thursday of the month and follow a short circular route along quiet lanes and cycle paths wherever possible. We always keep to the pace of the slowest rider so no one feels left behind. These rides are about building confidence for all abilities and ages in a relaxed environment.

Please sign up on letsride.co.uk/breeze and for further information you can contact Karen Smith (Breeze Champion) on breezewoking@gmail.com.

Everyone welcome!
